    The Hattiesburg Tourism Commission is now accepting applications for a Leisure Travel Sales Manager.

    The primary responsibility for the Leisure Travel Sales Manager is to lead the aggressive development and implementation of short-term sales strategies and tactics with the objective of attracting visitors to Hattiesburg that have an interest or connection to leisure travel, including outdoor recreation, youth sports, events and festivals, golfing, motorcoach tours, bicycle touring and excursions, family and military events and reunions, and other general tourism interests.  The generation of overnight stays in Hattiesburg is the top focus with daytrips as an important secondary initiative.

    The Leisure Travel Sales Manager participates in and leads the general sales efforts of VisitHattiesburg to promote and sell Hattiesburg and the Pine Belt to groups and individuals in the aforementioned categories.

    This position requires building and managing strong leisure travel industry relationships locally and statewide as they support the mission, goals and objectives of VisitHattiesburg.  This work is independent and requires an innovative, gregarious self-starter.

    The Capital Region USA (CRUSA) board of directors seek a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization. The selected candidate’s primary responsibility will be to identify and develop new and innovative sources of funding to ensure that the organization’s goals of maximizing overseas visitation, spending and length of stay to Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland are achieved. This senior position reports to a voluntary board of directors.

    Primary responsibilities:

    Create and execute a business development plan to increase funding for the organization
    Oversee international sales, marketing, and media relations initiatives to maximize visitation, spending and length of stay
    Ensure that all market selection and budget decisions are based on credible market research
    Lead and motivate a team of two staff professionals, outside vendors and overseas contract representatives; set performance goals and ensure compliance.  Follow a best practices approach in business development, procurement, financial management and administration.

    The Town of Abingdon, Virginia is currently taking applications for the position of Director of Tourism.  This position operates under the direct supervision of the Town Manager and is responsible for the oversight of the town’s Department of Tourism.   The Director must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with town officials, staff, other public officials and the general public. Applicants must possess strong writing, public speaking, research, and problem solving skills and possess the ability to lead multiple projects serving as the main point of contact.  Salary is DOQ.

     The Director of Tourism is responsible for:

    Developing a visionary tourism marketing plan for the Town based on existing or newly developed programs, resource allocation and industry trends & data; Directs the development of all tourism & travel marketing & creates strategic plans based on increasing travel to the town
    Reviewing visitor data and conducting market research to develop plans for programs & advertising; Developing & managing an all-inclusive public relations program using all types of media in the effort to reach as many groups & individuals as possible; Managing website & social media; Developing, organizing, and promoting special events & activities for the Town
    Researching, writing, & administering available grant opportunities to assist funding for tourism & economic development projects
    Directing & managing the Abingdon Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Tourist Information Center; Establishing & maintaining effective working relationships with local & regional community organizations & business groups

    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Tourism/Hospitality or closely related field and/or
    5-7 years of experience in Tourism and/or Economic Development
