  • 5/24/17 Internship | Southeast Tourism Society in Roswell, Georgia (North Atlanta)


    Southeast Tourism Society (STS) has an internship available for fall semester.  This role will support the STS Staff with a variety of responsibilities that engage all facets of the organization and provides an opportunity to learn more about the tourism industry from a regional perspective.

    Duties & Responsibilities:    Organize STS Top 20 Festival and Event Submissions on a quarterly basis, including data entry, payment records and confirmation of files received.   Work with the Director of Communications in relation to social media content and strategy as well as development of marketing materials.  Assist with incoming calls and questions pertaining to STS.   Support VP of Operations in organizing support materials for STS events and conferences.  Additional duties as assigned.

    Requirements:  Hospitality and Tourism major/minor preferred. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint (Microsoft Access a plus but not required) Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. Must read, write, and speak the English language.  Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills.  Must have accurate typing and data entry skills.  Creativity and willingness to share new ideas are always welcome.

    Report To:  Director of Communications

    Start/End Date:  August 1, 2017  –  End of Fall Semester

    Hours:  Two days a week from 9am-5pm

    The Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Sales Officer. The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in sales within the Convention and Visitors Industry, Hotel Sales, or a combination of both.

    The Chief Sales Officer will oversee all sales activities in both the Group Tourism and Convention sides of the business, and will manage a staff of 6 employees.  The Candidate will report to the President & CEO.

    The Chief Sales Officer will play a major strategic role spearheading the sales department’s strategy development initiatives, ensuring that they remain consistent with the CVB’s overall strategy. The Chief Sales Officer will have a responsibility to work with the sales team to increase bookings through new client leads and relationships, and will design and implement appropriate sales strategies for the each of the business’s sales channels.

    Candidate will also be responsible for implementing key performance metrics for the sales team and working with team members to maximize success.

    The Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) has a Marketing and Communications Manager position available. This position reports directly to the TDA Executive Director.

    Duties include, but are not limited to: media relations efforts to promote and market Rutherford County locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.  Duties will also include the oversight and implementation of the tourism marketing plan which includes a strong website and social media presence. Chosen candidate will represent the TDA in a positive light through media tours, stakeholder site visits, and contact calls. Position requires adaptability; as well as a high level of organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and complete many tasks under a deadline, all with a professional and friendly demeanor.  Must be a self-starter and able to complete projects independently, and have a team-oriented attitude. Position entails contact with the general public in person, by telephone, by email, and through all social media outlets. The applicant must present him or herself with courteous professionalism. The candidate must possess strong computer skills with Windows, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Creative Suite and Excel. Applicant must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Background and drug test required.

    Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm.

    Salary $35,915 negotiable depending on education and experience.
